Starting Off

As you may or may not know, there are many Discord verification bots that are scams, unreliable, and are plain out trash. We are here to provide safe and reliable information on how to keep your server safe from these types of bots.

How They Attack Your Server

You’ve probably came across one or another while using Discord. These types of bots will push you into clicking a dangerous link which they claim “will give you access to their server” when in reality, they just want access to your Discord account. The link will either lead into an authorization page in which they will prompt you to authorize their bot to your account. This bot will most likely have permission to “join servers for you”. This permission is very risky and I suggest not authorizing any bots with this permission unless it’s a very known bot. However, some bots have you click a link in which will send you to a fake Discord login page where they will steal your Discord account information if you try to login. Heads up, make sure to read the URL of the page as it’s a key hint if the link is safe or not.

Why Do They Do This?

Simple, they want your money/account/server/bot/etc. They are really just trying to gain access to your account and most likely will gift their main account nitro through whatever account they steal. Another reason they might do this is to gain members. Like we previously stated, they sometimes will prompt you into authorizing their bot with the “join servers for you” permission. With this permission, they can gain money from other users asking for server members and just make members with the bot authorized join their server.

How Can I Fix It?

If you’ve already been a victim of this, there a couple ways to “undo” the changes. Please keep note that some scams may not have a way to “undo” what has happened. If you have fallen for the authorization scam, all you have to do is User Settings > Authorized Apps > Go to the bot and hit “deauthorize”. This will remove the “join servers for you” permission from that bot. If you have fallen for a scam that gives access to your account to another user, please make sure to reset your password and go to the devices tab and remove all unknown devices. If you ended up losing money towards nitro, please make sure to also reset your password and remove all unknown devices but also please contact your bank and report this issue.
